How this calculator works
It uses the slab rates announced for FY 2025-26. The new regime allows a standard deduction of ₹75,000 on salary, and a rebate makes tax nil up to ₹12 lakh of taxable income, with marginal relief just above it. The old regime allows a ₹50,000 standard deduction and the deductions you enter, with a rebate up to ₹5 lakh of taxable income.
- Special-rate income such as capital gains is not handled here.
- Surcharge for income above ₹50 lakh is not included.
- HRA and home loan interest are allowed only under the old regime.
