Documents usually needed
- Photo ID and address proof of the owner, partners or directors
- Proof of possession of premises: rent agreement or ownership document
- List of food categories you will make or sell
- For licences: layout plan, list of equipment, food safety management plan, water test report where relevant
- Entity documents for firms and companies
After you get the licence
- Display the certificate at the premises
- Print the 14-digit FSSAI number on packaging, menus and invoices where required
- Follow hygiene and labelling rules
- File the annual return by 31 May if applicable to your licence
- Renew before expiry and update the licence if you add food categories
Choosing correctly
Applying in the wrong category is a common reason for rejection. If your turnover is close to a limit, or you plan to sell in other states or online, plan for the higher category.
Cloud kitchens and bakeries in Greater Noida West often start with Basic registration and move to a State licence as orders grow on delivery apps.
